Another famous projects of Donstroy - Ostrov 4. While working as a BIM manager at Laptev & Partners, I encountered an interesting case involving the optimization of facade tile cutting. To maintain the rhythm of the facade and ensure uniformity in the joints between the tiles, our architects challenged the general contractor's decision to use tiles of the same size to save on materials.
Role: BIM Manager
Task(s): BIM coordination, scripting and modelling
Year: 2023
Packing algorithms through Dynamo and Python in Revit were used to demonstrate that with factory cutting and marking, the overspending would remain within an acceptable range. This was a valuable case for showcasing optimization solutions. Having first encountered this topic during my BIM A+ master's program, I believe that algorithmic approaches can still save budget without compromising quality.
In addition to programming tasks, I also had the opportunity to participate in the assembly of models in Unreal Engine for submission to the city authorities.
